The tool that worked well for me is GXLiterate- A Google Transliteration Service based transliterator for OpenOffice.org for Indic Languages. It's a libre office extension, but serves the purpose. Cons: it does not provide an option to choose between transliteration suggestions, it directly translates to the language selected, sometimes with. Google Input Tools is a Chrome extension that allows you to use any keyboard to type your desired language. This is made up of four text input tools: Input Method Editors, Transliteration, Virtual Keyboard, and Handwriting. These are necessary for applying keystrokes, converting phonetics, and drawing text for over 70 languages. Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool:

This tool works with any application in Microsoft Windows or on any webpage. Like Google’s transliteration IME, this too works on transliteration mechanism with an additional virtual keyboard.

Microsoft Indic Language Input Tool is available in 2 versions:

The web version like Google IME bookmarklet works on bookmarklet and let you type text on any webpage. The desktop version can be used to input text in Indian languages in any Windows application.

This tool currently supports 10 languages: Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
